25 Jun 09 Can I collect unemployment insurance if my employer is a nonprofit with less than 4 employees?

My employer was not required to pay unemployment tax. I am now unemployed and my employer would not contest my getting unemployment. However, my employer was not required to pay unemployement tax. My employer is a nonprofit with less then 4 employees in Ohio.

best way to find out is to apply. The worst out come is they tell you no.

Probably not since they didn’t pay in for you. Corporate officers can elect to be covered or not as a whole group but then if the company doesn’t pay not can collect no matter what happens to the company. I would say you aren’t going to collect but you may as well apply maybe you had covered employment from other jobs you could collect on.
